As http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0434/ has been accepted we *can* do enhancements in IDLE for Python 2. Not sure we *should* do it for this case. Lets discuss in http://bugs.python.org/issue17348 and http://bugs.python.org/issue15809.
