That would resolve the conflict in rfc1035, and a.isi.edu would be legal under the rfc952 inheritance rule. There is a lot of, umm, infrastructure history with single-character delegations which would also need to be revised and fixed, so the question at this point goes to those parties who control those rules. This does need to be resolved before we can define absolute parameters for i18n host identifiers. -- Eric A.
