     Excellent Job Opportunity for an individual with GIS and agricultural 
     knowledge. If you have moderately strong skills in GIS, 
     agro-meterology, remote-sensing, or crop models you need to  apply.  
     This position is with the prestigious Foreign Agricultural Service 
     working as an international or domestic agriculture commodity 
     forecaster. Responsible for monitoring agricultural areas of the 
     world, performing GIS analysis of historical and current agricultural 
     data and weather data. Tools and data used in the position include 
     imagery data (AVHRR, Landsat TM, SPOT), satellite derived vegetation 
     indexes, crop models, GIS software (ArcView, ArcInfo), image 
     processing s/w PCI, agro-meteorological data models, web page content 
     and design s/w, graphic design s/w, spreadsheet s/w, GIS software, 
     digital image processing, weather station data, climate data, 
     historical agricultural production data, and assessing news wire 
     stories. Analysis will cover major grains, oilseeds and cotton 
     (soybeans, canola, wheat, barley, corn, cotton, peanuts, and sorghum) 
     of the major exporting and importing countries.  Pay for this position 
     varies with experience, but tends to be very good compared to industry 
     (see announcement for details). Travel (with overnights) for this 
     position is likely to be less than 5% percent of the time. 
     
     I encourage you to apply for this position even though you may believe 
     you do not have experience in all mentioned areas. In my opinion most 
     important skills are: computer skills (data manipulation, 
     spreadsheets, i.e. the type of thinking this involves), GIS (i.e. 
     ArcView), and agricultural knowledge.  In addition experience in 
     remote sensing, economics, programming, will be a bonus. APPLY! APPLY!
