Hello,

As shared previously [1], preliminary proposals for Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF)
sessions at the upcoming IETF 109 meeting are requested by 18 September. This
will allow time for clarification and tuning of proposals ahead of the BOF
submission deadline, which is 2 October.

Preliminary proposals do not need to be detailed. A brief description of the
proposal, who the proponents are, and whether or not the BoF is intended to
discuss a working group charter is all that is requested. Instructions for
submitting preliminary proposals are available at:

https://www.ietf.org/how/bofs/bof-procedures/

Please also read RFC 5434 (https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5434), Considerations
for Having a Successful Birds-of-a-Feather Session, if you are not familiar
with it.

BOFs are just one of a number of ways of bringing new work into the IETF. If
you are considering a BOF request but you are unsure whether to submit it,
please tell the IESG now by sending an email to [email protected], or speak to an
individual Area Director (https://www.ietf.org/about/groups/iesg/members/)
about your idea.

Thanks,
Alissa Cooper
IETF Chair
