The IESG has determined that the current onsite registration numbers (https://registration.ietf.org/113/participants/onsite/) and trajectory for IETF 113 are such that we expect a successful hybrid meeting. In other words, the IESG will *not* convert IETF 113 to a fully online meeting.
Current registration numbers for both onsite and remote participants are below the usual curve for both fully online and pre-pandemic meetings. We think that many participants may be holding off registering for IETF 113 due to continuing uncertainties around their ability to attend in person. We’d like to emphasize that registered participants can convert their participation between onsite and remote at any time, and that refunds are provided in the case of conversion from onsite to remote. Please see the FAQ at https://www.ietf.org/how/meetings/113/faq/ for details on this and many other aspects related to IETF 113. Also note that fee waivers are available for remote participants (https://www.ietf.org/forms/113-registration-fee-waiver/). Finally, if the COVID situation changes such that local regulations make it impossible to host a hybrid IETF 113 as planned, the IETF LLC may of course still decide that IETF 113 must be held fully online. In the absence of such a drastic change, IETF 113 will go forward as a hybrid meeting.
