Technical Summary

This document specifies procedures for how IPv6 Hop-by-Hop options
are processed in IPv6 routers and hosts. It modifies the procedures
specified in the IPv6 Protocol Specification (RFC8200) to make
processing of the IPv6 Hop-by-Hop Options header practical with the
goal of making IPv6 Hop-by-Hop options useful to deploy and use in
the Internet. When published, this document updates RFC8200.

Working Group Summary

Nothing especially noteworthy (see shepherd write-up). Hop-by-Hop
options and how to make them useful elicits many opinions, but
overall this work is attempting to make net improvement in the
   utility of HbH options.

Document Quality

No specific implementations of these recommended behavioural changes.
Many implementations of HbH option processing, in the general case.
Several folks, including folks working for router vendors, appear
   the "Acknowledgements" section.

Personnel

The Document Shepherd for this document is Jen Linkova. The Responsible
   Area Director is Erik Kline.
