The IESG has approved the following document: - 'IMAP Support for UTF-8' (draft-ietf-extra-6855bis-04.txt) as Proposed Standard
This document is the product of the Email mailstore and eXtensions To Revise or Amend Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Murray Kucherawy and Orie Steele. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-extra-6855bis/ Technical Summary This specification extends the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP4rev1, RFC 3501) to support UTF-8 encoded international characters in user names, mail addresses, and message headers. This specification replaces RFC 6855. This specification does not extend IMAP4rev2 [RFC9051], since that protocol includes everything in this extension. Working Group Summary Nothing unusual. Document Quality The standard libraries for java and python already behave in the way that this document specifies, rather than how RFC6855 says they should. This document actually brings the IETF documents into closer alignment with what's happening in the real world. No particular additional reviews are warranted. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Bron Gondwana. The Responsible Area Director is Murray Kucherawy. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
