To be fair ... I've certainly experienced the same thing at non-US IETF
hotels (the one that sticks out in my mind is Adelaide, but I believe
there were others).  However, instead of whining about it on the IETF
mailing list I just sucked it up and called at the appropriate venue-local
time.
