Sometimes, I find ancient newspapers. Not of half a year ago, of
course, like RH6.2, but of a month ago, or so. Sometimes, I even
love to read them. It's interesting to remind what happened, and
how different the news were, and sometimes it is even funny. This
is the power of nostalgy.

However, I would not want an OS of a month ago, when there is a
much better newer one. In this case, it is not a month ago, but
half a year, when there is a new major version (7.0). Somebody has
a stock of too many burned 6.2, and doesn't know what to do with
them, so instead of throwing them away and burning 7.0, he had a
strange decision - to give them to poor newbies, who don't know
that there is nothing older than the OS of yesterday.

Of course, by installing 6.2 instead of 7.0, you install many
built-in vulnerabilities, unless you download RH errata
immediately. And many new hardware devices are not supported. And
of course, older versions (especially GNOME and other latest and
greatest) are not as stable with 6.2 as they with 7.0. So don't be
surprised to hear many complaints of newbies about Linux later. (I
know that a new version, especially .0 one, may have new problems
too, but it is still idiotic to distribute an obsolete version).

So people, instead of reading the yesterday's edition of the
newspaper, take the current one, ready with SSL and crypto, new
drivers, cleaner, faster, ready for 2.4, and with a lot of new
exciting stuff.

P.S. 7.0 contains a preview version of Pango.
