By the way[2]: The problem persists is I use par(mfrow=c(2,2)) instead of
layout. Please test with the following code:

library(igraph)

g<-erdos.renyi.game(30,0.4)
x<-1:100;

par(mfrow=c(2,2));
hist(degree(g),main="A");
plot(x,sin(x),type="l",xlab="x",ylab="sin(x)",xlim=c(40,90),main="B")
plot(g,main="C");box();
plot(x,sin(x),type="l",xlab="x",ylab="sin(x)",xlim=c(40,90),main="D")

So, it is one more evidence that the problem should be caused by the
igraph.plotting. Any idea?

Best.
