The reasons are usually that they don't know about the system, or they
are not willing to learn, and they might not be able to provide
support for other faculty/students, or answer people when questioned
(by Management or others, for example). So, generally, they like to
play it down by imposing *authority* over wisdom. Sad, but true!

But, not all are like that. There are also good faculty in colleges,
who put down their ego, and realize that when they studied they didn't
have such freedom of software or opportunity to learn, experiment and
share knowledge, but, are willing to put the migration effort so the
students/faculty can benefit from them.

Good. Be very patient when working with them. It takes time for things
to change. Thus, it is also important to have periodic workshops for
all.

Only when you, and others persist, and persevere will everyone see
light at the end of the tunnel.
