Wiki says this about BIOS(for IBM PC):

"The BIOS is boot firmware, designed to be the first code run by a
PC<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_computer>when powered on. The
initial function of the BIOS is to identify, test, and
initialize system devices such as the video display
card<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_display_card>,
hard disk <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_disk>, floppy
disk<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floppy_disk>and other hardware. The
BIOS sets the machine hardware into a known state,
so that software <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_software> stored on
compatible media can be loaded, executed, and given control of the
PC.[3]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIOS#cite_note-2>This process is
known as booting, or booting up, which is short for
bootstrapping <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bootstrapping_%28computing%29>."

So in other words, if BIOS fails you have to reset BIOS, nothing (and that
includes USB, CD and HDDs) else is even given control (it doesn't matter
even if someone is encouraging/motivating you ;-) )

I think I answered this above. But i definitely didn't expect someone to
reply to a mail without even trying to check/confirm what is what.... And if
you are talking about my initial reaction of not answering such half asked
questions, then I still stand by that... problem is I am a of two groups and
unfortunately the number of such questions is high, now I have better work
to do than trying to figure out what the other guy's problem is (forget the
solution to it), and I do hope its the case with others too. So posting the
proper question and doing the groundwork is more of a help to the guy asking
the Question.

And there's something called top-posting, that is considered a sin by many
of us :P
