According to me you can't create more than 4 primary partitions (due
to fixed size of partition table). But you can create 3 primary and 1
secondary partition and in the secondary partition you can create
large number of logical partitions. So just edit any 1 partition.
If you just want to try new OS then you can you use any virtualisation
software like Virtualbox and in that case you not need to have any
extra partition. :)
