I used to like lilo better than grub but since ubuntu by default installed grub, I'm used to it now. The reason I liked lilo better was probably because I had used it more and grub was new at the time (and difficult to setup). What I really liked about lilo was the -R option (it allowed you to define which OS to boot into when you reboot the next time). It would help avoid the nuisance of accidentally forgetting to choose the right OS and then have to wait for the system to boot up completely and then restart it again.
