We are shelling out more B.Techs than Engineers. This is prevalent from
choice of course to choice of job.
Most of the citizens(superset of students :) ) take up job for money and not
for passion to create/develop something interesting or innovative.

Even if you have done something substantially interesting and good, in most
of the colleges you are tagged as copy cat or fake during vivas and exams.
Giving extra marks or incentives is far away.

Given that, despite these flaws in the so called education system, I have
noticed that most teachers(depends upon there awareness) do appreciate
your extra work and though they can't give you any extra incentive directly
(due to obvious contraints), but they do let you(or the whole batch if many
students are doing good work) have some privileges. Then in current
circumstances it is up to the students to make most of that opportunity (I
guess most people here have done that).
