Assalammua’alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
I would like to introduce myself, Raja Idris Kamarudin, a Consultant with the
Markfield Institute of Higher Education (MIHE) in Leicestershire, UK.
Alhamdulillah, MIHE has been providing Post Graduate Islamic Education, in
collaboration with leading UK universities, including University of Portsmouth
, Loughborough University and currently with the University of Gloucestershire,
for more than 9 years.
MIHE is accredited by the British Accreditation Council and is on the Register
of Sponsors - Education Provider with the UK Borders Agency.
In April 2009, MIHE signed an MoU with UIN in Jakarta and with STEI TAZKIA in
Bogor for co-operation in the provision of Islamic Higher Education.
Over the last 5 years MIHE has been conducting Diploma Courses in Islamic
Banking & Finance and Certificate Courses in Muslim Chaplaincy.
For this year, 2010, Insha Allah, MIHE plans to conduct four each of these
courses, with 25 participants per Group, making it a total of 100 participants
per Course for 2010.
These Courses are normally held over the weekends and as such would not
interfere with the normal work or study routine of participants.
At MIHE we feel that these courses are extremely important for the Muslims in
general and the Muslim community in UK in particular, since there is a lack of
good Muslim Chaplains in the Health, Prison and Education Services in the UK.
Also there is a need to increase the number of Muslims and also Non-Muslims
globally that are knowledgeable in the area of Islamic Banking and Finance, so
that Islamic Banking can truly grow around the World, to the benefit of the
Ummah.
As each course would be in excess of GBP1,000 per participant, inclusive of
on-campus lodging and meals, we would require contributions to help finance the
participants from UK, from the Muslim youths, the unemployed, the
under-employed or simply individuals who are looking to better themselves in
their career.
With this in mind, MIHE would like to invite you to work together with us to
provide
1) Sufficient funding for participants, through Zakat Payments, Donations or
any other financial assistance available from Indonesia.
2) Participants from among the Indonesian sponsored students (Muslims and
Non-Muslims) who are currently pursuing their Graduate Degree Programmes in any
discipline in the UK, to participate in the Diploma in Islamic Banking and
Finance Course for them to add on to their qualification and knowledge whilst
in the UK.
