I have autofs and gnome-volume-manager loaded. If i power-on the system with the usb device, it is detected. But once, I umount and eject it, after that if I reinsert it, it is not detected. On my FC5 it works well. Does anyone here in the list have Ubuntu Dapper with USB pen drive working properly? Is there a command line sequence to detect the usb flash memory? The flash is formatted as vfat. I can see a continuos stream of messages in dmesg: Jul 27 16:44:11 gnu kernel: [17290269.400000] usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 127 Jul 27 16:44:12 gnu kernel: [17290269.904000] usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 Jul 27 16:44:12 gnu kernel: [17290270.408000] usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 Jul 27 16:44:13 gnu kernel: [17290270.912000] usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4 Jul 27 16:44:13 gnu kernel: [17290271.416000] usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 ....... This shows that the device got identified, but after that what? Any suggestions? Thanks JPM
