So you see here's where the problem is. From the time this thread was initiated and, till the time of this reply, all that has been done was a couple of +1 to the GOOG calendar idea and some wiki administrivia.
A calendar is supposed to remind folks about events. The details that you need are: - name of the event+URL - location+date+time of the event - main contact - single line agenda To ensure sanity of entries you need ~3 gatekeepers whom folks can mail the above template filled in and the world at large can either use the iCal or CSV output or, view it embedded within various LUG homepages. What's personal preferences got to do with this? For example, check out LWN's calendar of events if GOOG is unpalatable. I just suggested it so that one could strike while the iron was hot, not to initiate a loopy debate on the merits/demerits.
