This is pretty weird. Have you searched for any
problem reports re your board chipset on the net? Have
you tried any other distros? e.g. Suse? That worked
pretty well for me, so well in fact I replaced all my
redhat installations with that one.
Since the problem doesn't occur with the older redhat,
its possibly something to do with the installer kernel
on the new redhat. Trying a different distro would
help.
Hope you looked at the problems reports / faqs on
redhat.com
