Hi, 
Could you provide the following information about your
network card and its configurations. That will help
other to solve your problem much easily.

*Which linux distro you are using and version.
*What's the name of your network card manufacturer.

Since you have use the manufacturer diskette to
install the driver i presume that they have provided
the linux driver and your system is not recognizing
the card properly. 

Also run the command 
'ifconfig -a' (without quote) and send the output.
With this command you can also set up the irq manually
if required.
