Hi, I am asking out of curiosity (please dont flame! :) )- I have heard about Powershell since the release of Vista. Is there any reason why it got highlighted now? Did I miss any interesting changes to it? (not the name).
Anyway, the idea of objects as parameters look great. There is a project that aims to do the same on *nix- Hotwire shell : http://hotwire-shell.org/ . It derives inspiration from Windows Powershell. Hotwire shell is a hybrid GUI/CLI object oriented shell. Just imagine! you can drag and drop results of one command to another! Furthermore, one of its stated aims is to be cross platform. Unfortunately, its repository hasn't seen much activity since last October. I fear that the project may be dying. I hope someone picks it up.
