Please post the output of /sbin/lspci command (you need to be root to 
execute that). This command will list all devices on the PCI bus, and we 
can know what display hardware we are dealing with here.

I guess you've already successfully enabled '3D desktop effects' from 
administration > look and feel menu. So, compiz is working fine on your 
machine. Now you probably want to enable more eye-candy.
You need to install a program called CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM).
Install the following packages using the command (as root, of course):

yum install ccsm compiz-fusion


I'm not very sure about Fedora 8, but you might also need to install the 
following (only if the above command did not install these as well).
yum install compiz-fusion-gnome compiz-gnome

Please post the result of these and we'll proceed with the next steps..
