download the rssowl archive from : http://downloads.sourceforge.net/rssowl/rssowl-2.0-M9.linux.gtk.x86.zip extract it to a convenient location. This will be extracted into a folder called rssowl lets call this location PATH open a terminal and change to this extracted folder by typing cd PATH/ then run the RSSOwl executable by issuing ./RSSOwl The application should start up and work. If the app works then you can create a launcher to it by right clicking on your Gnome Panel and then selecting Add to Panel -> Custom Application Launcher and then clicking Add This should bring up a dialogue asking for details. Put 'RSSOwl' in the name field ( it doesnt matter what you put here ) . Click the browse button next to the Command field and browse to the location where RSSOwl was extracted, and select RSSOwl ( that is the executable ) . You can fill in whatever you like in the Comment field. If you want the RSS Owl icon to show up then click on the icon in that dialogue and browse to the location where RSSOwl was extracted and click Open. The RSS Owl icon should show up in the dialogue .
