Hiii
Today i got a chance to visit a Co-opertive bank to inspect some networking
there. They are using a SW Perfect Bank which is provided by another
co-operative firm COSTEC G8 Elankom gardens Vellayambalam . They solely is
the distributors,HW vendors and trainers . As per Govt policy they have to
provide free SW platform applications they even has Linux version of there
application but promote Windows based sw . There servers are hosted with
Windows 2000 or 2003 server edition costing 54,000 they charges 70,000 to
90,000 for there sw Perfect Bank per branch in an estimate more than 3 Lakh
per bank goes for SW . You all know in co-operative sector it's always lover
class workers money is dealed and a lot of money are going to this section
atleast the cost can be halved if linux is promoted. The main reason they
are avoiding linux stating printer compatability if some of our guys can
find some good Linux supported dotmatrix printers (80 column as well as 136
column) we can mail the GM of the company or personally meet and tell him to
atleast give customer to choose the OS option. Another reason stated was
there are server versions of Linux which are not at all free or costs near
to Windows server edition is this true?

The GM of the company is Mr Saaju Ph No 9447027093.

Hope you all will try to provide some solutions.

Saral
