In my experience, debian supports a wide range of hardwares especially old and new display & sound compared to other distros. Also it demands less hardware resourses. For server purposes, Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu and debian are suitable. But I think Redhat demands rich hardware (compared to debian). In the desktop world and server world, debian performs well
