what exactly LG monitor TV? it needs a computer to play TV? or a monitor capable of playing TV signal standalone without a computer?
Usually, you can connect the "AV out" (RCA jacks, seperate yellow [video signal] and red & Balck for Audio left and right) to a laptop tuner card plugged to the USB port.(low budget way) and record what is incoming. I think VLC player can do the job if device is detected. We need a dedicated capture driver for the tunercard (hope somebody else answers with a good model and linux compatibility/ driver details.) [be carefull wether ur signal is a better HD resolution in Progressive scan mode [P mode] from a DTH settop box, u may need a better capture card.] Simply put, 1) connect video out signal to TV tuner card . 2) Save the video as file if the video cable ends in a RF plug(the usaual Cable TV plug) check the TVtuner card has RF input. else go for an RF to AV convertor.
