subin, the possibilities here are...

* the cd u put may not be working.. verify it on another comp..
* ur cd drive is not working..
* or ur bios is corrupt.. this is highly unlikely though..

as i had said.. if u have given cd drive as ur 1st boot priority..
bios will 1st check if it can boot from the there.. if it can it will
boot from there.. if not it will go and look at the next priority..
that's how it works..

grub is installed on ur harddisk.. bios will boot from harddisk only
if above priorities are not available.. so a command like "stop
working Mr grub" is not ur solution..
