SWAP memory concept came , when RAM was expensive and RAM used was less . it
uses hardisk space as SWAP . I have a system with 4GB ram , but I choose to use
1GB swap only . While installing I also had this doubts . I took advice from
other guys . They asked me to have 4GB . They explained some logic stating that
more swap does not optimise your system
my system with 1GB or swap is working fine , I have 2-3 virtual machine
running

hi, on googling, it says convention is to provide double the size of RAM for
SWAP. Does this apply for newer systems?
Should I use a swap of 8GB for a 4GB RAM system.how much would be optimal?
