One of my friends used my credit card to pay and he paid 2 dollars or about 90 rupees (he is still a student). His name will appear as a backer when first version of FreedomBox comes out. Btw I paid 100 dollars (I earn pretty well, if we are not contributing to things we care about, what good is a nice salary). It is not about how much you give, but how much you care, every dollar counts. Current status is 558 Backers, $49,837 pledged of $60,000 goal, 25 days to go. Even if you are not able to pay, make sure you share the news on your social networking sites, blogs, microblogs and talk to your friends about this project. No business would want to support it, because there is no profit in it, and no government would want to support it becaus they would lose control over its people, but we, the people, need this more than ever and we have to suppport it. Diaspora also came to life via kickstarter. They targeted 10000 US dollars and they got it in 12 days and they raised a total of about 2 lakh US dollars. It shows people care about Freedom and if you have an idea, don't worry about money, people would support it if it is important enough. I see this as a new model of creation in digtally connected world. There is no need of a middleman, creators can reach out to their users or audience directly and we don't have to entertain any middleman, more importantly middlemen deciding the fate of how a creator interacts with its user or audience is also moving away. This is also opens up opportunities for more people to be creative and it will enrich all of us by rich diversity of creative works. Chamba project is also part of this new revolution where people come together to create things they care about. We also plan to go on kickstarter once we have a clear plan. We are creating history, and we are remaking the world, for the better.
