Hai,
Why SATA become faster than PATA ?
Serial data transfer is faster than parallel ?
Well, it might seem that parallel data transfer must be faster than
serial since multiple bits can be transmitted simultaneously.
But when the speeds gets higher, parallel communication becomes
difficult. On a parallel data link, all lines should be synchronized
(i.e. no skew) to maintain data integrity. Further, when you have
several adjacent lines carrying data, there's a higher chance of
interference/crosstalk. Because of these reasons, serial link speeds are
often higher than parallel links.
