Oops! I misread something and posted a wrong reply. Sorry. As you are using Core i3 processor, I assume your CPU is a new one and it has enough RAM. You may try the current-latest version of Ubuntu, ie 11.04. As Jishnuettan said, you may upgrade to new version when its released. There will be an option in update manager to do this.
