On 21 February, Praveen A and Sooraj Kenoth visited college of engineering to interact with the students. A short report of the meeting is given below :
4.20 - Introduced the speakers - Praveen A and Sooraj K 4.23-6.00 : Discussed the following issues : 1. Alternatives to AutoCAD and PROE such as FreeCAD and opencascade 2. Discussed the feasibility of switching to open source versions with mechanical engineering students 3. Decided to attempt installing freeCAD on a few computers by 25th February. 4. Talked to non-CS students about how open source works and why open source. Also addressed major challenges when switching to open source alternatives 5. Talked about online privacy and the necessity of alternatives to popular social networking sites and email clients 6. Discussed the feasibility of setting up a diaspora pod on the campus 7.
