I have downloaded the ISO images and not had problems with BOSS 2.0 LiveCD. The LiveCD recognized all devices on my Toshiba laptop (Intel graphics, ethernet, wifi). The Beryl 3D worked out of box. > To be honest I have not got a single chance to successfully use BOSS > till now. Iam much worried how a layman can do it. AFAIK, that not all systems will work out of box with any Linux distro. Just today, one of my colleagues bought a spanking new Acer laptop. openSUSE 11.0 hiccups half way through the boot process but Fedora 9 seems to work; not had a chance to test out the webcam though. Unfortunately, in laptops the consumer does not have a choice in specifying the components compared to Desktops. > One happy news is Iam already running Red Hat 9.0 in my above said > laptop. Interesting. BOSS is based off Debian. Not sure what exactly you mean by above. You should not know the hardware of your laptop. You have not mentioned its brand/model. > 2) whether BOSS is adequately tested at the factory before it comes > to the hands of a layman consumer. > Err, you will have refer this question to CDAC. -- Arun Khan _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
