Do you mean to say that that in prop software companies - (a) In monitory terms, the investor makes way too much money and parts with very small amount to the employees and you belive this is wrong like a union? or (b) In knowledge/philosophy terms that the knowledge gained or IP generated in a project is 'owned' by the investor but not the employee? And the employee cannot use it for his or her own benifit? How ever you look at it- I belive knowledge should be free and shared. I run a fully owned company myself and I have the power and capacity to make my principles the principles of my company. Profit or loss, both or mine. In most software companies... read corporates - are faceless entities run with huge sums of money invested by the investors. The primary goal of any corporate entity is profit, profit, profit. That's why they exist. The professionals who run these companies are evaluated based on thier ability to maximise profit. Unless the FOSS company is non-profit or run through a fund, I guess employee agreements would be very simlar. But correct me if I am wrong if I thought that any run-for-profit FOSS company will be based on support? I know there are exceptions, but they are very few. I deal with corporates everyday and they are all the same greedy entities whether their base is Automotive/Software/Pharma......... Again, I am only talking about greed and not ethics. regards, Arun Venkataswamy
