The elective mode, in a sense, came due to the university regulations --if i remember correctly, in Anna University, a new subject has to be introduced first as an elective. The first FOSS elective CS1023 Free/Open Source Software was introduced in 2005-06. It has been widely agreed that it needs significant revision. The second elective "CS1024 Enterprise Application Development using FOSS" has been found to be more acceptable. The two autonomous colleges -- TCE and PSG have come up with their own versions of FOSS electives. The syllabus, course materials, etc. are available at : http://nrcfoss.org.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=38&Itemid=69 Please visit http://nrcfosshelpline.in/code/wiki/FossElectives or http://nrcfosshelpline.in/code/wiki/FossElectivesSyllabus to give your comments / suggestions re updation of the two Anna Univ electives. thanks and best wishes Srinivasan NRCFOSS _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email ilugc-requ...@ae.iitm.ac.in with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
