i heard this is good. other considersations are symphony, cakePHP etc.

one opinion i have related to framework.
Almost every framework available, have some limitations or the other. rather
than asking people, its better you try and use it / customize it
accordingly.

there is a learning curve also. If you are interest in using web framework
to get the app, up and running, then go for it.
else learn the php language and code from scratch. you will learn a lot.
