I was giving an example when someone asked how can deleting a link deletes the actual folder. Not a working code. apologies. Obviously,

yes- sudo is not required always
yes- -r is required to delete a non-empty directory. And,
yes- adding a star at the end will delete the contents and won't delete the directory
yes- if you try it in your system, it might not behave as expected.
