Hi all, While a more formal announcement will come shortly after finalizing logistics, this is a early heads up for people who want to block calendars / tickets. Mediawiki & Wikipedia hackathon[1] is being planned[2] on November 19,20 at Mumbai as a parallel event to the WikiConference India[3] . If you are a PHP developer interested in contributing, there will be "Introductory mediawiki sessions", bug triages. Even if you aren't into PHP, there is much more you could learn / contribute on many other technologies behind Wikimedia properties along with WMF(Mediawiki) developers who will be attending the hackathon.
[OT] The *WikiConference India 2011* is the first conference of its kind being held in India and is intended to become an annual national flagship event for Wikipedia/Wikimedia in the country. It is meant to provide a common platform for all Indian Wikimedians to meet and share their views, discuss challenges and exchange useful tips, best practices and other information. There are also some technical talks[4] being planned at Conference too. Conference requires a paid registration which is open[5], while hackathon will be free event needing registrations which needs be confirmed and will open up soon.
