We inherited the half baked OOwriter document from the client (done by it's previous vendor). I do not recall the details of our working. However, I had instructed them to pull in the screenshots through the "Insert>Picture>From File.for graphics. At that time, I solved my issue with converting to DocBook. I have used DocBook on and off for 12 years now and I am comfortable with it's workings.
