Hi IMO, Alice, Bob, Carol, Eve, Rama, Ravan, Sita are all fictional characters. In this example, they have been used just for names. And names don't matter, it can be X,Y or Z. What actually matters is the way it is taught. Using a simple real-life example using 3 PCs in a network for demonstrating evesdropping and man in the middle attack will be much better than using names. Here IP addresses are much more useful than any other names.
