Dear all , FSFTN conducted a day long workshop on GIMP, Skills of Poster Making and Basics of Inkscape at its office in T.Nagar. The session was attended by 12 participants, students and few IT professionals. The workshop was divided into three sessions. The first session dealt with the basics of GIMP and was taken by Harini, a member of CEGLUG. This session gave the participants an introduction to the various tools in GIMP and their usage and the concept of layers in GIMP. Live demonstration of how to employ these tools and concepts was very helpful for the participants to grasp the ideas presented by the speaker. In the second session, Deepak Johnson from FSFTN gave some insights on the Art of Poster Making by taking examples of posters desgined by the FSFTN team from previous events and pages. Various tools in GIMP like Paths Tool and the usage of Layers in GIMP for poster making were highlighted. Intricate details of poster making like choosing the right color or choosing the right font were also explained in this session. The third and final session dealt with basics of Inkscape, a SVG graphics editor. The session was taken by Yogesh Girikumar of FSFTN. The speaker covered the various tools and their usage. The importance and usage of Beizer Curves was demonstrated in the session. Participants were given various tasks through which they could relate how to use the tools they had learned. At the end of the programme, a FB group - FSFTN-Creative Group<https://www.facebook.com/groups/151957421680739>was formed to encourage further activity on these lines.
