Come out of MS Office. All things will become compatible!!! Try Libre Office, an open source equivalent for MS Office, for your Writer (Word), Spread sheet / Calc (Excel) and Presentations (Power point) - Cross platform - Good compatibility with MS Office. MS Office Publisher : Scribus (Not sure of compatibility) MS access: Libre Base (Not sure of compatibility) All the above are platform independent. Hence, I feel that I need not list down the OS distributions. Again, in some cases,you may not be able to switch over all the machines to another OS. I am not recommending to continue with the present OS you have. But I am recommending to use cross platform applications for easiness and compatibility. Change the applications!!!
