by installing 32 bit OS you are not fully utlilising the capability of your machine which supports 64 bit. It is about addressing capacity as you mentioned.
bigger container can hold smaller, but reverse is not possible. The OS manages the capacity, the capability is mentioned as 32 bit and 64 bit in OS spec. While hardware capacity and OS capacity should match for the optimum, other possibilities as listed out by Mehul Ved exist. 2013/12/31 Rajagopal Swaminathan <[email protected]> > Greetings, > > On Mon, Dec 30, 2013 at 8:55 AM, Mohan R <[email protected]> wrote: > > Not sure, but I think qemu can emulate 64bit guest in 32 bit host. > > Nope, you just cannot run a 64 bit guest on a 32 bit host. > > > -- > Regards, > > Rajagopal > _______________________________________________ > ILUGC Mailing List: > http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc > ILUGC Mailing List Guidelines: > http://ilugc.in/mailinglist-guidelines > -- Thanks and Regards, | നന്ദി, Ajeya Anand | അജേയ ആനന്ദ് [image: http://ajeya.wordpress.com/] <http://ajeya.wordpress.com/> [image: http://ajeya.wordpress.com/] <http://ajeya.wordpress.com/> [image: http://twitter.com/ajeyaajeya] <http://twitter.com/ajeyaajeya> [image: http://www.linkedin.com/in/ajeyaanand] <http://www.linkedin.com/in/ajeyaanand> _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc ILUGC Mailing List Guidelines: http://ilugc.in/mailinglist-guidelines
