Greetings, We had a great meetup today at IIIT Delhi. We are very thankful to the people who helped us in providing the venue for the meetup.
This meetup was themed around packages. Manas Kashyap started with Handson session of packaging a nodejs module for Debian OS[1]. He explained various build tools that is required for building a package. He along with Raju Devidas moved on to packaging a node application while explaining various things such as sponsoring a package by a Debian Developer, contents of Debian directory in a package. The next session after the networking break was by a talk on the Portage package management system of Gentoo by Kuntal Majumdar[2]. He talked about various package management systems and various advantages and disadvantages accompanied with it. He discussed Ebuilds, USE flags and various profiles present in the Gentoo OS. Before the closure of the meetup we received nice feedbacks from the audience: 1. We should add more Hands on sessions be it lightning talks. (it's more engaging and fun) 2. Make list of volunteers/contributors. 3. Stick to schedule with proper instructions sent before hand. ==> We are looking for Venues and Speakers for our next meetup which will be on 14th of April next month. We welcome speakers from Hardware(SBC, ardunio, rpi, pcb etc), Software(Golang, C etc) and System(*unix Kernel, Devops etc) segments to propose their talks or workshops at our meetup.
