dear sandip,

thanks! your syntax worked and visudo accepted it without generating
errors.

however, this is the output on a shell:
$ sudo firestarter
NETFILTER detected
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

this means that the user is able to run the software, but some other error
is occuring. i tried this command a couple of times, also with different
paths, like /usr/bin/firestarter, but no effect.

here's the strange part:
i then simply su- and then did a cat/etc/sudoers to verify all settings
were intact. they were. in a new shell as the ordinary user, i typed the
same exact 'sudo firestarter' and it booted!

yech! this is not nice if it boots *on its own will*

it also threw the following messages in the shell
sudo firestarter
NETFILTER detected
iptables: No chain/target/match by that name
Firewall script restarted
