because the embedded system on which we are working and (further developing) is based on RH 7.2 but does not have any directory structure as /etc/sysconfig. and I have to store the IP address into flash, so that when the system comes up it takes up that IP address.
And I modify code of ifconfig so that whenever it is setting an ip address it puts that ip address to the file I specify.
:-/ I think you are trying it ulta :). Why dont you save the IP adress in any file at first (like /etc/ip-eth0), and after bootup read this file and set up the interface accordingly?
