Sandeep, is it possible to turn it off.

Am not sure whether it can be turned off easily. Probably the list admin only can initiate such a switch by mailing the gmane admins, but I highly dont recommend it.

The obfuscated emails visible through gmane are all valid email addresses stored in their database along with the original email address. These mail addresses use sender challenges i.e. the first time you send a mail to these email addresses, you will get a one time verification mail from gmane. Once you reply to that email, the mail is sent to the original destination. You can actually use this gmane encrypted email for your own mail forwarding, with the additional feature of challenge-sender authentication(i believe there is a better word for this - ah .. it is TMDA).
