Thanks for the update, Shehjar. My comments under...

Shehjar> Got this link from the above page:
    Shehjar> http://www.indianredcross.org/donation.html

    Shehjar> Heres what it says:

Shehjar> You are requested to transfer your donation and
Shehjar> contribution to our FCRA A/c. The details are as follows:
    Shehjar> -

    Shehjar> FCRA A/c. No. 01000 - 440437 SWIFT NO. NIN BBA 104
Shehjar> STATE BANK OF INDIA, MAIN BRANCH, PARLIAMENT STREET, NEW
    Shehjar> DELHI - 110 001.

Shehjar> That means we can just wire transfer it into the account
Shehjar> nos mentioned above.I know my bank, UTI, provides this
    Shehjar> service.

Shehjar> What we can do, is to transfer contributions(from
Shehjar> cheques, cash, wire transfer) into one account, and on a
Shehjar> set deadline transfer the collected amount to the above
    Shehjar> swift no.

Shehjar> Otherwise people can make drafts as mentioned(from the
Shehjar> link above) below, and send them directly:

Shehjar> If you are in India, you are requested to send your
Shehjar> contributions by way of Cheque or DD in favour of
Shehjar> "SECRETARY GENERAL, INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY, NEW DELHI -
Shehjar> 1", payable at New Delhi.

This seems more reasonable. Unless someone is really keen by paying
by wire transfer or credit card, let's collect cheques and cash and
take them to the Red Cross in bulk.

Shehjar> We assure you that your contributions will be utilised
Shehjar> in the rehabilitation of the people who are affected by
    Shehjar> any disaster.

Shehjar> The contributions are exempted under section 80G of
Shehjar> the Income Tax Act, 1961.

Shehjar> Same here The question is, whose account do we
    Shehjar> consolidate the contributions in?

That's precisely the problem.

We still need a volunteer. In the last resort, you can bring the
stuff here (Munirka) by 1st evening (with a list including amounts,
items and name) and I'll get it to the Red Cross on Sunday. I'd be
much happier if someone else can do it, though :)

Regards,
