Greetings there, i am using GIMP for the first time... my system conf is P4 2.0GHz, 512M RAM, 512M swap.
i have a 300M (TIFF) file that i need to open in GIMP. at GIMP's setup, i had chosen a temp GIMP file of 128M. but still given the memory and swap file sizes it take 5-7 mins for the file to get displayed. furthur any operation (zoom in/out, crop etc) also take about 2-3 mins to accomplish.until that time i am unable to click any other currently open programs.it gives a state of not responding... kindly suggest any ways i can configure GIMP so that image operations do not cripple my system. thanks, rohit.
