no need to do all this. just add "users" in your fstab options pertaining
to /mnt/floppy.

for e.g.
/dev/fd0  /mnt/floopy  auto  noauto,users,kudzu 0 0

then mount it using
$ mount /mnt/floppy

read the man pages, its written there very clearly
$ man fstab
$ man mount
